Camping Themed Baby Shower

Mark and I celebrated Jase with our closest family and friends at the beginning of the month. I wanted something new and different for our shower theme and fell in love with an outdoors/camping theme. All of my inspiration came from here. Here are a few of our pictures...

Our centerpieces consisted of a campfire, trail mix, balloons, and a camping bear table number
Here is a table with the balloons. They were made with tulle instead of string.
Trail Mix
The table from a different perspective. The party favors were AVON lotion tubes with flowers on them. Every table also had a rustic silverware package and a Baby Bingo Board.
Silverware Package... I used brown lunch bags and got 6 packages out of 1 bag. I then stamped them with words like 'enjoy', 'dig in', or 'eat'.
Baked Potato Bar
We had chili and chicken and dumpling soup to go along with the baked potato... and it was a cold snowy day... perfect for the two!

'Jase Thomas' onesie banner I made using my cricut
Guests were encouraged to write daddy a little message on the diaper to make him laugh during his late night diaper changes!
Some of the messages were so funny!

Our Wishing Tree: Guests were encouraged to write a wish for Baby Jase, mommy and daddy!

Here are some handmade gifts that I received and absolutely LOVE... I know some very talented people!

This probably has to be my favorite gift and it was made by my dad! I love, love, LOVE my tree bookshelf. It will fit perfectly in Jase's room. (He even made a little tree stand to go with it!) Thanks Dad!

Rachel, my matron of honor, made me a baby quilt out of the bridesmaid dress she wore in my wedding. The material from the dress is the dark blue patches... love this more than ever! It will be a forever keepsake!

Christy and her boyfriend's mother, Lynn, made Jase crocheted football helmets... here is the Bengals one and there is also a Dallas Cowboys one for when he is with grandma and grandpa.

My mom, dad, sister and brother had many personalized onesies and bibs made... This one is from Christy and says "If you think I'm loud you should hear my aunt"... another one says "If you think I'm cute you should see my uncle". They even made a bib that has a picture of Ruby, our dog, on it and it says "Best Friends Forever"
Another gift from Rachel... she made a 4-Wheeler diaper cake. I wish we had gotten a better picture of it!
Mark and I are so blessed with such wonderful friends and family! We love each and every one of you and appreciate all that you do for us. We can't wait to welcome Jase Thomas into the world and introduce you all to him. We know you will love him as much as you love the both of us! Thank you for all of your gifts and well wishes!

It's A...?

Well the moment Mark and I have waited for for so long is here... We had our Gender Reveal party today! We had so much fun with our family and close friends (and youth).  We had a cake made for the big reveal... whats inside that cake will change our lives forever. I'll let the pictures tell the story...

Are you Team Pink or Team Blue? Guests had to vote when they arrived. I included some Old Wives Tales for fun... according to them baby Wimbish is a girl? Let's see how true they are... We also had a little photo booth where guests could take a picture with our lips or a mustache.

My tissue paper pom-poms that I hung from the ceiling. I also have numerous paint samples left over from a previous Craft Night so I added some 'falling confetti'.

It's hard to see the centerpieces but I slid an ultrasound picture in a square glass jar and added some pink and blue marbles.
Mommy and Daddy are totally sporting the mustaches and are definitely Team Blue!
Aunt Christy is hopeful for a girl...

Uncle JD is wishing for a boy...

Great Grandma and Grandpa aren't in agreement... but then again are they ever?

The proud grandparents... My dad said he was Team Pink but that there was no way he was wearing lips :)
The moment we've been waiting for... Mark is cutting the cake!
And Baby Wimbish is...

A boy!

I don't think I realized how much I wanted a boy until I realized that's what we were having. I can't wait to read him stories, play with cars, clean those muddy clothes, make superhero capes, etc. I pretty much have his childhood planned out on my Little Man Pinterest board... go see for yourself: http://pinterest.com/mylifeashiswife/my-little-man/

For those of you with boys, any suggestions?

18 Weeks

I'm 18 weeks today and so excited... I took my first 'preggy' pic because a few ladies at church told me I looked just adorable. I have to admit... I am liking all the maternity clothes my friends Sarah, Jessie, and Mari gave me.

How far along? 18 weeks... the time is really flying by because I have been so busy. I can't believe I am almost half way there!

Movement? Well, I think... not really sure because I don't know what I'm looking for. I haven't felt a kick or a jab but it does feel like things, like my organs, are being bumped around. Really looking forward to that first kick though!

Maternity Clothes? Like I said, I am really enjoying the new wardrobe I have from my friends. Its like going shopping in my closet every day. And my mom bought be some new jeans! Still loving my old sweats though... gotta be comfy!

Best Moment of the Week? Last week I got to wear my cute mommy-baby skeleton shirt for Halloween... everyone loved it and it made me look forward to dressing the little one up next year.

Worst Moment of the Week? Still getting sick every now and then...

Sleep? I'm definitely losing sleep... I have a hard time falling asleep then when I finally do it is usually time for a potty trip... ugh! Luckily I can still sneak in a nap midday!

Cravings? Still craving fruit... apples and oranges

Miss Anything? Diet Coke. Diet Coke. Diet Coke. {One of the youth from our youth group promised me a case of Diet Coke after I have the baby... I. Cannot. Wait.}

Looking Forward? I have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming 2 weeks... This weekend Mark and I are going on a BABYmoon to Berlin, Ohio (Amish Country) and I am so excited. We are going to spend the weekend shopping and eating :) And next week is my doctor's appointment. I am so excited to see my baby again... its been 10 weeks since the last ultrasound. I am eager to see how big he or she has gotten. And, speaking of he or she... hopefully we can find out!

So excited...

I am so excited because I was finally able to make a Diaper Cake. My friend Rachel and her husband Rich are expecting a little girl soon and Rachel's Baby Shower was last week. The baby's room is a jungle/monkey theme so her shower was the same and it was adorable. Who knew monkey's could be so colorful?

I wanted to do something special for them because Rachel threw me my wonderful Bridal Shower so I decided to make her a Diaper Cake!

Here is what I used:
1 box of Size 2 diapers (100/box)
A Beanie Baby Monkey
1 roll of ribbon (1 1/2 inches thick)
Rubber Bands (to wrap the diapers)
Wooden Animals (Pat Catans, already painted)
Toys such as rattles, teething rings, booties, musical
A cake plate

I simply started by wrapping the diapers and holding them with a rubber band. Once that was finished, I started to place them around a pop bottle. I used a pop bottle as a filler so I wouldn't have to get another box of diapers. Once I had my desired size I tied them together with yarn. Then I hot glued the ribbon on each of the three tiers. I then glued the animals on, set the tiers on top of each other, and decorated with toys. Lastly, I placed the monkey on top. I am so grateful because her mom actually let me place it with the actual cakes on the cake table. :)

I also found a great idea from Janet at Today's Fabulous Finds. I made Rich a 'Daddy Duty Kit' for when it's his turn to change the baby's diaper. Janet used a tool belt for her project, which I couldn't find, so I decided to put it in a construction bucket. I included the poem found on Janet's website and the following items: Goggles, gloves, clothespin, tongs, diapers, and wipes. I also had a construction cone left over from my dad's 50th birthday party so I threw that in there too.

{Funny Story: My keys were sitting on the top of my car as I was carrying the Diaper Cake inside. When I came out I grabbed the bucket and my keys. They were so hot from the sun I dropped them in the bucket and... forgot about them. When Rich pulled everything out he screamed "She got us a car!" and pulled out my keys! Guess this girls an Indian Giver because I definitely took my car home!}

I had such a great time at her shower and cannot wait for this little blessing to come into the world so I can spoil her!
